Expatria Human Resources focuses on recruitments for international groups. On behalf of our client, we are now recruiting a:
Head of Tents – Dometic & Kampa
Shape the future of two established outdoor brands and lead the next phase of growth for Dometic’s global Tents business.
Our client Dometic (www.dometic.com) is a global market leader in branded solutions for Mobile Living, serving consumers across Recreational Vehicles, Marine, Automotive and Outdoor markets.
Within Outdoor Standalone Products, the Tents business designs, develops and markets camping equipment for outdoor and travel consumers under two complementary brands: Dometic, focused on premium and innovative solutions, and Kampa, with a strong heritage in quality family camping.
Our client is now looking for an entrepreneurial and commercially driven Head of Tents – Dometic & Kampa to lead and transform this global business.
Based at the Tents headquarters in the UK and reporting to the Head of Sub-segment Standalone Products in Germany, you will have full P&L and balance-sheet responsibility, together with significant freedom to shape the strategy, portfolio, commercial model and organisation.
The ambition is clear: accelerate profitable growth and unlock the potential to double sales over the next five years.
Your mandate:
This is an end-to-end business leadership role combining strategy, consumer and category thinking, product development, commercial execution and operational performance.
You will:
- Own and transform the global Tents business, taking full P&L and balance-sheet responsibility and delivering ambitious, sustainable and profitable growth.
- Define the category vision and strategy for Dometic and Kampa, establishing where and how each brand can win and strengthening their respective market positions.
- Build a compelling, consumer-led portfolio, translating outdoor consumer needs and market trends into differentiated propositions, products and experiences.
- Lead the complete product lifecycle, from consumer insight, concept and product development through launch, assortment management, lifecycle optimisation and continuous improvement.
- Accelerate commercial growth, strengthening the core EMEA business while identifying and developing attractive opportunities in the Americas and APAC.
- Shape the go-to-market strategy across specialist dealers, distributors, key accounts, marketplaces and direct-to-consumer channels, working closely with regional sales organisations.
- Drive strong operational and financial performance, balancing growth, margin, cost, service, inventory and working capital across sourcing, manufacturing, supply chain and logistics.
- Build and lead a high-performing international team across category and product management, product development, sales, marketing and operations, creating a culture of collaboration, accountability and continuous improvement.
- Build strong relationships with customers, partners and internal stakeholders and ensure the business operates in line with applicable regulatory requirements and company policies.
Who we are looking for:
You are an entrepreneurial business leader who understands outdoor consumers and products.
You combine strategic category thinking with strong commercial and financial instincts. You are equally comfortable defining a long-term category strategy, challenging a product proposition, engaging with key customers and getting close to the numbers and operational realities of the business.
Most importantly, you understand what outdoor and sport consumers need, how to reach them and how to translate those insights into compelling propositions and profitable growth.
You bring:
- Significant senior leadership experience in outdoor, adventure, sporting goods, camping or a closely related consumer industry.
- A proven track record of transforming and growing a business profitably, ideally with full P&L and balance-sheet responsibility.
- Strong category management expertise, with the ability to build a compelling category vision and translate it into clear cross-functional priorities and execution.
- Deep understanding of consumer needs, market dynamics, product development, portfolio management and lifecycle management.
- Strong commercial and financial acumen, including budgeting, forecasting, cost control and working capital management.
- Experience in international sales and omnichannel go-to-market models, including developing new markets, channels and distribution opportunities.
- A solid understanding of global operations, including sourcing, manufacturing, supply chain, logistics and inventory management.
- Strong strategic thinking combined with a hands-on, action-oriented leadership style.
- The ability to inspire, develop and unite international cross-functional teams and operate effectively within a matrix organisation.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills.
- Relevant higher education. The role requires international travel, and ideally you will be based in or within reach of Essex.
Why join Dometic?
This is a rare opportunity to take end-to-end ownership of a global outdoor business, combining the entrepreneurial freedom of leading a category with the reach, capabilities and international footprint of Dometic.
You will have the mandate to shape the strategy, portfolio, organisation and commercial model, while working with an experienced international team to build stronger brands, more compelling consumer propositions and the next phase of profitable growth for Dometic and Kampa.
If you are excited by the opportunity to build, transform and grow, and want to make a visible impact on the future of two established outdoor brands, we would like to hear from you.
